Resources—Clothes

New:

Babies are by far the best excuse for buying clothes! Transition clothes, maternity clothes, nursing clothes, baby clothes… so much fun!  These are just a few…

Motherhood Nursing Wear  and Pea in the Pod stores are in the Cherry Creek Mall; they have both maternity and nursing wear.  Be sure to look at the nursing openings on their nursing clothes before buying though; I found some that open under the arms and my breasts happen to be in front of my chest so it’s not too helpful!

Old Navy doesn’t have a maternity section in the Southlands store, but do in the Aurora Mall.

Gymboree is in the Cherry Creek Mall and Southlands too; be sure to get on their mailing list for coupons! Cute girl clothes are easy; finding cute boy clothes takes more work! They have a great selection for boys and I fell in love with the fact that their big kid clothes and baby clothes coordinate—so I can still get my two boys to match. Endless from Amazon has some great shoe deals; I love our crocs! =)

Motherwear and Expressiva  are my favorite places for nursing clothes! I used a lot with my first, but not much with my second. It is very possible to nurse discretely without these tools, but they can be fun and helpful too.

Bosom Buddies has two stores in the Denver area.  I would recommend going in to be fitted for your bras by a professional.  They have a great selection!  They also have nursing clothes, pumps, and other goodies and an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) on staff.  A new place to get nursing bras is La Leche Leagues Clothes.

MamaBarter – This is a group where moms trade just about everything—clothes, slings, diapers, books, you name it!

Gently Used:

Consignment stores are great places to look too.  I have found these: in Aurora: Little Tykes is on Hampden and Chambers (SW corner) in the Vitamin Cottage shopping center, Repeats is on Buckley and Illiff (NW corner) behind the McDonalds, Bearly Worn is on Smokey Hill and Chambers (SE corner), another is on Chambers and Mexico (SE corner), and Kid to Kid on Mississippi and Chambers (NW corner) in the Michael’s plaza. In Parker, there is Children’s Orchard on Dransfeldt, south of Lincoln and west of Parker. Throughout the year, there are consignment events like Just Between Friends which can be a great place to find some deals.

Tips:

I found it helpful to bring nursing tops and bras and maternity bottoms in my hospital bag so I could use then soon after Spencer's birth when we were still at the hospital. It felt so good to get out of those hospital gowns!
